Dee McKay comes from a long history of story tellers. Her first endeavor was to put together a collection of stories from her grandfather – written in the 1890s, and her mother – written in the 1940s. She then had the collection printed and presented it as a gift to her mother with delight at her 80th birthday party.
She always had a passion for writing and that project inspired her to pursue her own literary career. Dee has chosen Pap and Gram Applegate as her main characters, and has set out to give grandchildren and grandparents light, heartwarming stories that they can share and treasure for years, strengthening the bond between them.
Dee McKay is a registered nurse and has worked for over 20 years in the field of Psychiatry, as well as being a Home Health Nurse. She lives with her husband Buzz in Monaca, PA, where they are active members of The First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. They are also the proud grandparents of seven children who continue to bring them joy and inspiration.
